Lopez was a student of renowned French painter, printmaker and sculptor Bernard Buffet. This painting is of the Maison François-Jacquet-Dit-Langevin one of the oldest houses in Quebec. Its construction dates back to the late 17th century. It is also among the very first private residences built in Quebec City’s Upper Town. Having undergone few alterations over the years, it is a valuable example of residential architecture during the French Regime. Today, it bears the mark of its most famous owner.
