Exhibiting since the 1980s, most of his works have been presented in the Lisbon metropolitan area, including at the Novo Século Gallery, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation , Altamira Gallery, Árvore Cooperative , Amadeu Sousa Cardoso Municipal Museum, Contemporary Art Forum, Mercês Cultural Space, among many other locations.
He participated in several editions of the Festa do Avante Biennial , in 1981, 1983 and 1985, and the Cerveira Biennial , in 1982 and 1984, as well as exhibitions in several cities in the North and Center of Portugal . The island of Madeira hosted his work on several occasions, and internationally, he stood out with an exhibition in Milan , Italy , in 2003.
In 2010, he created a mural at Bar OitoNove, in Lisbon , and developed the “H2O” project for the company Revigrés.
In recent years, he has participated in several group and individual exhibitions, including at the Lerdevagar bookstore and at the Sete Gallery in Coimbra . He has also exhibited individually at the Cascais Parish Council Gallery .
His works are part of private collections at the Regional Government of Madeira , the Boston Consulting Group , Copicanola and the Hotel Villa Rica.
In 2021, he received an honorable mention at the 10th Small Format Painting Biennial – Joaquim Afonso Madeira Prize, in Moita.
He is the son of the renowned 20th century Portuguese painter João Califórnia .
