Mario Verdun (1924-1992) grew up in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district of Montreal.

A pioneer of Quebec radio and television, he became an announcer, host, and production manager.

A lover of the French language, he was the founding president of CKLM in 1962, the first entirely French-language radio station in Quebec.

Verdun worked as a journalist, correspondent and actor in Paris. returning to Canada in 1967 he continued careers as a televison host, media entrepreneur. and advertiser.

Verdon’s passion for painting led him to devote the last years of his life to visual arts. Painting mainly in oils and pastels (like his cousin and friend renowned artist Roméo Vincelette) He exhibited his works and had his first solo exhibition in 1974.

He joined the Charlevoix group, where he and fellow member Tex Lecor founded the Institut des arts figuratifs (IAF) in 1986.
