Renée duRocher is an established professional artist who has been working in the visual arts for several decades. Originally from Granby, where she still lives, she is actively involved with local cultural organizations, leading exhibitions, workshops, and events that promote contemporary art. A graduate in Fine Arts from UQAM, she has received numerous awards and distinctions, including an honorary diploma from CEGEP de Granby Haute-Yamaska, a distinction from the UQAM Alumni Recognition Award, the Excellence Award from the Granby newspaper La Voix de l’Est, and most recently, the title of Cultural Ambassador for the City of Granby for her involvement and the impact of her work.
Renée duRocher has been exhibiting her work in renowned venues since 1976, and has participated in approximately one hundred solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Invited to exhibit regularly abroad, including in Washington and New York, her attachment to her region remains deeply rooted in her artistic practice.
Renée duRocher’s work was selected for a competition within the provincial program for the integration of art into architecture for the City of Lac-Mégantic, in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
Her works are now found in public and private museum collections in both Quebec and the United States. Examples include the Government of Quebec, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Canada, the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Baie-St-Paul, the Orford Arts Centre, the City of Granby, the Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts, the Pierre-Boucher Museum in Trois-Rivières, as well as Pratt & Whitney in Toronto, the Desjardins Collection, the Royal Bank, and several American collectors.
