TIENGO, Luigi (1926-) Countryside Village
Watercolour Signed on the lower center: L Tiengo
19x24cm – 7,5×9,5″

A resident of Mount Royal for over 50 years, Luigi Tiengo is a true master of watercolor. Born in 1926 in Adria, Veneto, Italy, Tiengo’s talent for drawing was recognized by his father, who enrolled him in classes with one of the region’s finest painters, Antonio Tumiati. Simultaneously, he pursued studies in industrial design. Arriving in Canada in 1956, he embarked on an award-winning career in furniture design. Then, in 1971, he dedicated himself full-time to his passion for painting. Canada instilled in him a joy and enthusiasm that are beautifully reflected in his works. Tiengo’s subjects vary, inspired by the places of his childhood, his travels,
and his current residence. His paintings have been featured in over 25 solo exhibitions in Quebec and Europe. In 1982, along with 12 other artists, he founded the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. In 1995, Ed. Broquet published “Signed by L. Tiengo,” a 104-page book of his works.
