Originally from Montreal, Janet Blais is a painter, museologist and curator of numerous exhibitions. Following the preoccupations of the Support-Surface art movement, Blais seeks to “rhythmize the surfaces”, that is to say to make them appear through texture and color, so as to make their materiality strongly present. 

“My artistic research often questions the support of a work as a structure, like the grain of a skin, like an underlying background. I always impose on myself a reflection on the surface texture even before I can express myself pictorially.” J.B.
