Renowned sculptor Alfred Laliberté encouraged Jean-Marc Blier (1921-1994) to enroll in the School of Fine Arts Montreal.
Subsequently, Jean-Marc Blier exhibits at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Montreal Arts Club, and the Palais Montcalm in Quebec.
A particularly successful exhibition at the Center d’Art du Mont-Royal precipitated numerous shows every year and gave Blier nationwide exposure.
Later established at his studio near Mont Saint-Bruno nature permeates and inspired Blier’s style resulting in decades of artistically successful years capturing the beautiful landscapes of the Gaspé, the Laurentians, and Charlevoix.
Art critic Paul Gladu claims Blier’s style is part of an interpretation of Impressionist technique in Canada.
