Peter Johannes Antonius Cox (1912-1985) was born in Mook, Limburg, the Netherlands, and studied at Pensionaat Rolduc Art School and Kunst Techniek en Ambacht Art School. Cox briefly worked in the marketing department for Philips electronics in Eindhoven before turning to art as a profession in 1936.
He was part of the “Plasmolen” circle of Dutch painters working around Mook in Limburg, working in pastels, pen drawings, lithographs, aquarel, gouaches and oil painting. He mainly painted landscapes, with his paintings of trees being particularly famous for their accuracy.
