Julia Lee Docking “Julee” Sarasota artist expressed an avid interest in art, which she continued to pursue throughout her life. She studied at the Corcoran Art School, the High Museum in Atlanta, and through private lessons. She eventually settled in Sarasota and immersed herself in her painting and the emerging art community. There she met her longtime partner and fellow artist, John Barends

Julee enjoyed painting in various mediums, often relying on chance and humor to initiate the process in both her abstract and realistic pieces. Her work has received numerous awards and has been widely exhibited, including at the Kennedy Center, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the Ringling Museum. Passionate about art, Julee always had a painting in the works.
