Michel Dupont (Quebec, b. 1950) Abstract Modernist Etching,
Untitled, series 1/1. Image measures 7 x 7 inches within matting,
frame measures 11.5 x 11.75 inches.
Michel Dupont is a self-taught painter, engraver and sculptor actively involved in several craft associations.
After exploring and experimenting with several printing techniques, he became interested in the transformative capacities of paper in the 1970s.
This new aspect of his work led him to make the paper himself by hand in order to create sculptural forms.
Strongly influenced by bas-relief, he developed a technique halfway between print and painting in order to create unique works with dynamic surfaces.
His works are part of several private and public collections in Canada,
the United States and Europe, notably at the Museum of Modern Art (New York, USA).
