Stanislas WOJCIESZYNSKI known as WOSTAN (1915 – 1989) was born in Kozmin, Poland.  Wostan met Jean-Claude Libert during his captivity in Austria at Oflag 17A, the prisoner of war camp that became famous for the largest escape attempt of World War II .
The two men have a common a passion for Art.  Jean-Claude gives Wostan French lessons and upon liberation in 1945 they return to Paris.
Libert, renowned cubist and abstract painter of the new school of Paris, is a disciple of influential artist Albert Gleizes one of the founders of Cubism at the School of Paris.
The friendship between Libert and Wostan lasted until his death in 1989 in the village of Beynes (Ile de France) where the artist had his studio.
Known for his high-quality engraving, and hammered copper sculpture his painted work expresses elements  “tormented by erotic and mineral fantasies”
The Grenoble Museum devoted a retrospective to him in 1965.
