Walter W. Pranke born 1925 Czechoslovakia, was the son of an artist and art professor. He studied at the Dresden art Academy and then emigrated to the United States in 1945 to study with Professor Scott of Utah receiving commissions for large murals in Texas and Oregon. Returning to Europe for further study in Hanover and Dusseldorf he further developed his figurative impressionist style until coming to Canada in 1955.
Pranke established a studio in Montreal where he worked for 25 years painting the city scapes of the Old Port and landscapes of the Laurentians.
Pranke has had 8 solo shows presenting his masterful palette knife technique.
